The controversy began when internet users linked Lewan and Compton to conservative political views, particularly their support for Donald Trump-an apparent contradiction to Swift’s known public support for Democratic figures like Kamala Harris. Within hours, accusations began to spread.
Compton clarifies the context behind the viral photo
But according to one of the men in the picture, the story was misunderstood. In a recent episode of the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, Will Compton broke his silence and explained how the now-famous photo with pop superstar Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce actually came about.
“I went up to Trav, we took a photo flexing our biceps, and right after that, Taylor came off the stage,” Compton recalled. “She greeted us warmly. I told her she was incredible, and she said she had a lot of fun.”
Compton admitted he was the one who requested the photo. “I went up to Travis and said, ‘Man, you know I’m not leaving without a picture with the two of you.’ He laughed and agreed. The whole pose was our idea. Even Taylor joked afterward that she had bigger muscles than us.”
Swift fans come to her defense
Once Compton’s statements came to light, Swifties didn’t waste time responding. Social media was flooded with messages defending Taylor Swift and dismissing any political assumptions linked to the photo.
“So the pose was their idea and not hers? What a surprise…” one fan sarcastically posted on X. Another added, “They went through Travis to get to her. But they swore they were her ‘MAGA friends.'”
