The Texas Longhorns, led by head coach Steve Sarkisian, pulled off one of the most thrilling comebacks of their season against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Trailing by 17 points heading into the final quarter, the Longhorns staged a remarkable rally, with Sarkisian using his play calling brilliance to lead Texas up and down the field.

Quarterback Arch Manning also stepped up, finally showcasing the talent and poise fans have long anticipated. Ultimately, Texas claimed a 45-38 overtime victory, delivering a memorable win that reignited excitement among supporters.

Prio to the game, speculation surfaced regarding Sarkisian’s future, particularly rumors linking him to potential NFL opportunities, including a reported interest from the Tennessee Titans.

NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic was among the first to report these claims. However, Sarkisian and his representatives quickly moved to dismiss the chatter, emphasizing that he has no plans to leave Texas for the professional league at this time.

Following the dramatic victory, Sarkisian addressed the media and directly cleared the air about the NFL rumors. Speaking from the locker room, he expressed visible frustration at the way a single report could snowball into widespread speculation.

“It really pisses me off that one person can make a report that in turn, the entire media sports world runs with as factual to the point of my agency and my agents have to put a statement out that they never have done… I had to do that to protect my locker room and my team,” Sarkisian stated.

Protecting the team amid distractions

Sarkisian’s response underscores the challenges coaches face when external rumors threaten to disrupt team dynamics. According to his statements, the false reports were serious enough that his agency issued a formal clarification, emphasizing that Sarkisian remains fully committed to the Longhorns program.

He insisted that protecting his players and maintaining a strong, focused locker room is his priority, even amid distractions from media speculation.

Beyond handling off-field controversies, Sarkisian’s coaching continues to make a tangible difference on the field. The comeback win against Mississippi State demonstrated strategic adjustments, resilience, and the ability to rally the team in high-pressure situations.

Arch Manning’s performance was a highlight, as he finished the game 29 of 46 for 346 yards and three touchdowns. The victory is a crucial momentum-builder for the Longhorns as they aim to secure a strong finish to the season and contend for prominent bowl opportunities.

Looking ahead, Sarkisian remains fully focused on guiding Texas through the remainder of the season. While media rumors may occasionally arise, his statements and actions make it clear that his loyalty lies with the Longhorns.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on how he continues to balance coaching challenges on the field with managing the narratives off it, ensuring his team remains united and focused on success.
