Stephen Jones casts more shadows over Trevon Diggs’ mysterious injury

Trevon Diggs, the Dallas Cowboys‘ two-time Pro Bowl cornerback, has found himself at the center of a bizarre story that has left the team, fans, and even management in the dark.

Late Thursday night, Diggs was reportedly involved in an accident at his home, one serious enough to land him in the NFL’s concussion protocol and rule him out of Sunday’s matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Normally, an injury update wouldn’t cause much of a stir, but this one has taken on a life of its own because no one seems to know what actually happened.

When asked about the situation, Jones offered nothing to clear things up. He declined to elaborate, simply saying he had “no comment” about Diggs‘ absence. That silence only fueled more speculation about the mysterious circumstances behind the accident.

Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer was the only team official to address the issue publicly, though his explanation left more questions than answers.

“Trevon Diggs came in this morning with some concussion symptoms after having an accident at his home,” Schottenheimer said. “He’s been checked out by our doctors and is in the protocol and will miss the game.”

And that was it. No details, no clarification-just confirmation that one of the Cowboys‘ highest-paid defenders will be sidelined yet again.

A strained relationship with fans grows even tenser

For Diggs, this latest episode comes at an especially sensitive time. The 25-year-old cornerback has faced increasing criticism from Cowboys fans who feel he hasn’t delivered on his five-year, $97 million contract signed before the 2023 season.

After tearing his ACL during practice just two weeks into that year, Diggs missed nearly the entire campaign. Since returning, his availability has remained inconsistent.

Out of the Cowboys‘ last 39 total games, including playoffs, he’s only appeared in 17-barely 43 percent of the team’s contests.

The numbers have added to the frustration. In that span, Diggs has recorded just two interceptions and 11 pass breakups, a steep decline from his standout 2021 season, when he led the league with 11 picks.

Fans who once saw him as a franchise cornerstone are now openly questioning whether his long-term deal has become a burden on the roster.

That tension was already simmering before the news of his latest injury broke. Now, with the strange circumstances surrounding his concussion, many in Cowboys Nation are wondering what’s really going on behind the scenes.
