Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are preparing for one of their last shots at the championship. With the window for a title narrowing each season, the team can’t risk an injury to their star, which is why a Dubs legend offered head coach Steve Kerr an innovative solution to the dilemma.
Although Curry is considered one of the league’s best players and a candidate to be the Greatest of All Time (GOAT), it’s no secret that he is also extremely injury-prone.
The Warriors star is famous for what some critics call his “glass ankles.” This joint has caused problems for Curry and the team more than once in his 16-year career.
Not only that, but the four-time NBA champion’s hip and knee problems are also a source of concern. However, the legendary Stephen Jackson has the perfect solution: hide Curry.
Jackson’s solution to the Curry problem
In the latest episode of the All The Smoke podcast, Jackson and his co-host, Matt Barnes, discussed the Warriors’ situation heading into the 2025-2026 NBA season at length.
“My concern this year is purely for Steph Curry and just the miles he has on his legs,” Barnes recalled. The former forward pointed out that Curry isn’t “the biggest guy” and the team must find a way to protect him.
“How can they preserve as much of Steph as possible for post-All-Star and a run into the playoffs and still be effective enough to get themselves a nice… come playoff time?” Barnes asked.
In this regard, Jackson offered an ingenious solution. “They can hide him,” the former player noted, explaining that the coach must find the worst player on the opposing team and hide Curry behind him.
“There’s trash on every team,” Jackson said bluntly. “So just find the trash bucket. Find the, you know what I’m saying, whatever they roll out with the trash on the court. Steph guards him, and he’ll be all right.”
What lies ahead for Curry and the Warriors
According to Power Rankings Guru analysts, the Warriors have the ninth-toughest schedule in the NBA. Their first game is a good example of this, as they face the Los Angeles Lakers.
In their first week alone, they will also face the Denver Nuggets and the Portland Trailblazers. Curry won’t get a break, and if his Kerr doesn’t follow Jackson’s advice, he might not make it to the playoffs in one piece.
