Stephen Curry responds to Jimmy Butler’s bold Instagram predictions for the Warriors

When Jimmy Butler spoke about the Golden State Warriors’ future on Instagram this week, it was far from a casual comment – and strong enough to warrant a response from Stephen Curry.

The 34-year-old guard, acquired in a blockbuster trade last season, offered a superhero-themed breakdown of his new teammates, assigning roles in a playful yet telling assessment of the squad.

“Robin. He gonna be robbing the sh*t out of this motherfckers this year. Batman gonna do his job… Draymond [Green is] the Batmobile… He [does] a little bit of everything… Who else we got? I don’t know,” Butler said, clearly casting himself as Robin and Stephen Curry as Batman.

The post quickly drew a reaction from his teammates, most notably Curry, who replied with a succinct “on the way.”

While just three words, the message carried a sense of intent and unity as Golden State prepares for a pivotal campaign. Draymond Green also joined in, commenting, “Yes lawd!!!” in support of Butler’s post.

Butler’s arrival in San Francisco last season gave the Warriors a fresh dynamic.

His two-way playmaking and leadership were instrumental in their first-round playoff series win over the Houston Rockets, but the team ultimately fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the conference semifinals without Curry, who was sidelined due to injury.

Building toward one more championship push

Golden State enters the 2025-26 season at a crossroads. The core of Curry, Green, and now Butler is seasoned, but questions remain over how many more deep playoff runs they have left.

The front office’s approach in the offseason has been cautious, with decisions still pending on restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga and whether to make another major addition to the roster.

Butler’s debut campaign with the Warriors showed his value. Across 55 games, he averaged 17.5 points, 5.4 assists, and 5.4 rebounds, bringing a steadying presence on both ends of the court.

His confidence heading into the new season is matched by the belief from his teammates, and Curry’s public acknowledgment of Butler’s words underscores the trust between them.

Last season, the Warriors posted a 48-34 record, largely buoyed by Butler’s impact after his midseason arrival.

His playoff debut in Golden State colors saw him drop 38 points with seven rebounds and six assists during the play-in round, making an immediate statement about his postseason pedigree.

The Warriors’ roster depth also remains a talking point. Speculation has linked the team to potential targets such as Khris Middleton and even LeBron James, but there is also belief internally that the current group can contend without major changes.

The challenge will be blending Butler’s forceful style with Curry’s precision and Green’s defensive intensity over an 82-game season.

Curry’s reply to Butler may have been brief, but it was more than just a social media courtesy. For fans, it was a signal that the Warriors’ leaders are aligned, their focus sharpened by the knowledge that opportunities for titles do not last forever.

If Butler’s confidence translates into performance and Curry returns to full health, the Warriors could have one more championship run in them. And with this trio’s combined experience and competitive edge, they have every reason to believe the journey is “on the way.”
