Stephen Curry makes solo appearance at Chase Center as family takes a backseat

Stephen Curry made headlines this weekend-not for his on-court moves, but for showing up alone at the Chase Center as the Golden State Valkyries dominated the Seattle Storm.

Fans and media quickly noticed the absence of his wife, Ayesha Curry, and their children, a sharp contrast to the familiar sight of the Curry clan cheering courtside. However, appearances can be deceiving.

According to Chase Center’s official social media, Curry was warmly welcomed during the WNBA matchup with a photo and a short message: “Great to see you, @stephencurry30.” While the post was simple, it emphasized what fans were quietly wondering-where was his family?

It turns out Curry’s kids were indeed at the arena, just not on camera. This is part of a conscious decision by Curry and his wife to maintain their children’s privacy.

In a 2019 interview, Steph admitted that putting his daughter Riley in the public eye during the 2015 NBA Finals was a move he now regrets. “If I could take that one back, I probably would,” he said at the time, emphasizing the importance of helping his kids stay grounded.

The sighting came during an especially busy season for the Curry family. Steph was recently nominated for a 2025 ESPY Award for “Best Championship Performance” after leading Team USA to a gold medal in Paris, scoring 36 points in the semifinal and another 24 in the final.

Meanwhile, Ayesha was in Aspen representing Domaine Curry, the boutique winery she co-founded with Steph’s sister, Sydel.

Despite nursing a hamstring injury that ended his NBA season, Curry’s schedule hasn’t slowed. He continues to champion his Underrated Golf Tour, a youth initiative aimed at providing opportunities for underrepresented golfers.

His social platforms remain active with shoutouts to rising talents like Morgan Riley, showcasing his ongoing commitment to equity in sports.

Steph Curry’s quiet leadership

As his role on the court evolves, so does his presence off it. When Cooper Flagg was selected No. 1 overall in the NBA Draft, Curry shared a throwback of a young Flagg at his Curry Camp, symbolizing a powerful full-circle moment. “Curry Camp NBA. Let’s get it!” he wrote-a quiet passing of the torch.

Even within his own team, Curry has taken on a mentor role. Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski described him as “a wise uncle,” someone who leads by example rather than words.

As the Warriors face a transitional period, Curry’s steady, mature presence remains a vital asset-both on the court and at home.
