Steph Curry reunites with Davidson players in surprise Bay Area workout

Stephen Curry has come a long way since his college days at Davidson. But this week, he carved out time to connect with the next generation of Wildcats-bringing his wisdom, energy, and signature jump shot to a Bay Area gym.

In a video shared by Davidson’s Instagram account, Curry is seen greeting the team with a smile. “What’s up, fellas?” he says, sounding more like an older brother than a retired college star. “It’s kind of surreal-it’s been, what, 16 years since I left campus?” The moment set the tone for what would become one of the most meaningful workouts these players have likely ever experienced.

Instead of just offering a few words and posing for photos, Curry did what he does best-he got on the court. He ran drills with the team, shared shooting tips, and answered questions with honesty and heart. There was nothing staged about it. It was Steph doing what he’s always done: showing up and making people better.

More Than a Guest Appearance – Curry Is Building Something Lasting

This wasn’t a one-off. Earlier this year, Curry stepped into a new role as Davidson’s assistant general manager, working alongside GM Austin Buntz, a longtime associate from his Under Armour days. It’s part of a broader commitment to his alma mater that includes an eight-figure endowment supporting both the men’s and women’s basketball programs.

“I had the opportunity to play basketball at the highest level, got a great education, and built an amazing network through Davidson,” Curry said, via The Athletic. “Now I want others to have that same experience.”

Beyond money and titles, Curry’s presence is what hits differently. Players felt it during the workout-when the game slowed down and the smallest details became lessons. It wasn’t about going viral. It was about building legacy.

Curry, who completed his undergraduate degree in 2022, has made it clear he’ll continue showing up when he can. Whether it’s on campus or in the Bay, Davidson’s current roster knows one thing: the greatest shooter of all time still sees himself as part of their team.
