Steph Curry mentor Katt Williams shoots 3-pointers better than the Warriors superstar

Stephen Curry is the best NBA shooter in the history of the league, no doubt about it. The Golden State WarriorsAll-Star has shot 43% from the 3-point line during his career, a ridiculous number.

The Davidson Wilcat standout completely changed the game, starting a trend of shooting more 3-pointers from deep, no matter the position: guards, forwards or centers.

Curry and superb shooter Klay Thompson – now with the Dallas Mavericks – were known as “The Splash Brothers“, as they amazed NBA crowds with their ability to beat down the rest of the league, capturing four titles along the way (2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022). They were the main reason why the Warriors were a legacy team.

Katt Williams shoots 3-pointers better than Curry

As wild as it may sound, comedian superstar Katt Williams – known for his dubious claims and his outrageous comments – said on December 2024 that he was responsible for Stephen Curry‘s greatness and revealed the advice he gave the NBA All-Star a long time ago.

During an episode of the “Good One” podcast, Williams talked about his alleged influence on Curry’s career. “Anybody that knows me knows that I don’t claim sh*t I do. But, I am responsible for the greatest shooter in the NBA, without question,” said Katt. He went on to say that he encouraged the NBA MVP to start shooting from deep.

To give some credibility to that claim, famous basketball shooting coach Lethal Shooter posted a video of his training with Kat Williams, and the trainer was very impressed with the comedian’s abilities on the court. “Katt Williams trained for two hours straight, he’s officially a lethal shooter… he fast as a MF too!!! He understands it now,” posted the personality, as we see the comedian draining deep shots with ease.

Curry will miss crucial games of the playoffs

The Golden State Warriors are playing the next couple of Western Conference semifinals games without Stephen Curry , after an MRI exam on Wednesday confirmed a mild strain of the star guard’s left hamstring. Curry would be sidelined at least a week after the injury on Tuesday night forced him out early in the second quarter of Game 1.

“Every year the playoffs are about adapting, whether it’s a game plan or an injury or a lineup, so we just have to adapt,” coach Steve Kerr said. “We’ve done this before, and we’re confident we can do this again.” Curry has never had a significant hamstring injury in his career.

That creates yet more mystery around the length of this absence and whether the Warriors can tread water long enough without the all-time leading 3-point shooter in NBA history to get him back near the end of the series. They’d be unwise to bank on that, though.
