Steph Curry and LeBron James speak up while pushing through pain for greatness

In recent games, fans may have spotted a splint on Steph Curry’s right thumb. It’s not some new trend in player fashion, a symbol of his stubborn will to compete.

The Warriors superstar has played through the injury for most of the season. On The Jim Rome Show, Curry offered a glimpse into the toll his journey has taken.

“So to think, like, a decade has gone on since we first understood what that championship journey was really like. And to be doing it at the stage of your career, it’s special. And it’s something you don’t take for granted…And so to wave off Father Time as long as we can and know that there’s still a lot left in the tank, it’s important to keep going out there, showing what we can do,” Curry said.

It’s not just the physical aspect-Curry’s comments echo something deeper. The journey, the sacrifice, the grind-it means something. And at 36, he’s showing no signs of letting go.

LeBron calls the playoffs a “drug” as he battles his own injuries

Meanwhile, on the other side of the NBA spectrum stands LeBron James, still going strong at 40. Like Curry, he’s had a litany of injuries-this season alone, LeBron has battled persistent ankle and foot problems and even suffered a groin injury against Boston. And yet, here he is, still producing at an elite level.

Speaking to Steve Nash on the Mind the Game podcast, James made it clear what keeps him coming back.

“Listen, at this point in my career, the regular season is fun and cool, but I only care about the playoffs…It’s definitely a drug for sure,” LeBron admitted.

He also addressed the reality behind the postseason grind during a Lakers media availability.

“I mean, everything. Playoffs demand everything from you, mentally. I mean, obviously, the physical toll that it’s gonna take because the games ramp up, the intensity, reps, ramps up, the physicality ramps up, the referees in the league allow us to play more physical in the postseason.”
