The New England Patriots might be making moves, but Stefon Diggs’ latest visit has fans buzzing about what comes next.
The veteran wide receiver, fresh off a visit with the Patriots, spent time dining with staffers, attending meetings, and undergoing a physical as the team explored adding much-needed firepower to its receiving corps. However, Diggs left New England without signing a deal, leaving speculation swirling about his next destination.
Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf addressed the situation, acknowledging Diggs’ talent but also pointing to his recent injury concerns.
“Stefon, obviously, a really good player. He was coming off an injury last year, so it was something we wanted to take a look at and see where that was at,” Wolf told season ticket holders via MassLive. Despite not securing a contract, Wolf emphasized that discussions remain open with Diggs’ representatives.
The Chiefs are a bigger stage for Diggs
With the Patriots desperately needing a strong receiving presence, the potential addition of Diggs could provide second-year quarterback Drake Maye with a proven veteran target. Though he may no longer be a No. 1 option at 31 and recovering from a torn ACL, he could still add valuable experience and reliability to a struggling offense.
But the Patriots aren’t the only ones interested. The four-time Pro Bowler has also been heavily linked to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he could instantly become a trusted weapon for Patrick Mahomes. NFL analysts have already highlighted Kansas City as an ideal landing spot, given the Chiefs’ need for a seasoned receiver.
The Cowboys are also in the mix
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys have also emerged as potential suitors. USA Today’s Cory Woodroof suggested that Diggs could be the perfect complement to CeeDee Lamb, keeping him in Texas while bolstering the Cowboys’ Super Bowl hopes.
As the free agency drama unfolds, one thing is clear-Stefon Diggs has options, and whichever team lands him could be getting a game-changing playmaker. Will the Patriots seal the deal, or is Diggs destined for a bigger stage in Kansas City or Dallas? The clock is ticking.
