Indiana Fever forward DeWanna Bonner continues to make history in the WNBA, reaching another significant milestone during Tuesday night’s game against the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The 37-year-old veteran moved up to eighth place on the league’s all-time rebounding list, surpassing Tina Thompson with her first rebound of the game. The WNBA acknowledged the accomplishment in a celebratory post on X, formerly Twitter, highlighting Bonner’s historic achievement.

Bonner entered the matchup tied with Thompson at 3,070 career rebounds, but her latest feat further solidifies her legacy in the league. This achievement comes shortly after another historic moment-Bonner became the WNBA’s No. 3 all-time leading scorer during the Fever’s season opener against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. Her ability to maintain consistency over the years has made her one of the most respected players in the league.

Despite her rise in the rankings, Bonner still has ground to cover if she wants to break into the top five of the all-time rebounding list. Tamika Catchings holds the fifth spot with 3,316 boards, while Lisa Leslie and Candice Dupree sit at sixth and seventh with 3,307 and 3,149 rebounds, respectively. Tina Charles, still active with the Connecticut Sun, remains the WNBA’s all-time leader with 4,024 rebounds heading into Tuesday’s game.

Outstanding career for her

Bonner’s impressive longevity has helped her collect numerous accolades throughout her career. While playing for Connecticut in 2024, she averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, earning her sixth WNBA All-Star nod. A three-time WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year, Bonner has continuously proven her value on the court and remains a dominant presence in her 16th season.

Now with the Indiana Fever, Bonner is focused on helping young star Caitlin Clark and her teammates reach new heights. She signed a one-year, $200,000 deal with Indiana in February, aiming to bring veteran leadership and stability to a developing team. As the Fever work toward a successful season, Bonner’s presence could prove invaluable both on and off the court.

Following Tuesday’s game against the Dream, Bonner and the Fever will face Atlanta again on Thursday, this time at State Farm Arena. With each passing game, she continues to build upon her Hall of Fame-worthy career, showing no signs of slowing down as she cements her place among the league’s greatest players.
