Sophie Cunningham’s wardrobe malfunction forces the LPGA to delete an awkward video

Sophie Cunningham experienced a wardrobe malfunction during the ANNIKA event at Pelican Golf Club, forcing the LPGA to remove a social media post as the incident occurred while posing with Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull for a photo opportunity.

Hull and Cunningham were volunteering as Clark‘s caddies, wearing matching white skirts and tops as during the photo, Cunningham‘s skirt became caught in Clark’s Fever jersey, briefly exposing her backside before she quickly adjusted to cover herself.

The LPGA acted swiftly to delete the clip from its official accounts, but screenshots circulated widely among fans.

At the Annika Pro-Am, the 29-year-old contributed playful interactions, joking with Clark, assisting with on-course tasks, and unintentionally striking a fan with a stray shot, creating a mix of entertainment and minor chaos during the event.

Cunningham has openly criticized public proposals at sporting events. On the Show Me Something podcast, she responded to a fan proposing at an Ole Miss game by saying she would leave immediately and confront the person if necessary.

“I swear, if anyone were to ever propose to me at any sporting event, I would punch them in the nose,” Cunningham said. “And I would leave.

“There’s no way in hell… They would know I would not want that.”

The Indiana Fever star has remained private about her personal life but earlier in 2025, she confirmed that she was single.

Cunningham responds to calls to reunite with Indiana Fever

Cunningham also issued a strong response to a fan who asked if she would re-sign with the Indiana Fever as her contract status remains unresolved into the 2025 WNBA offseason.

Traded to the Fever before the 2025 season, she missed 14 games due to injury but played a role in the team’s qualification for the WNBA Playoffs, where they made it to the semifinals before being beaten by the Las Vegas Aces.

When prompted to return to Indiana, Cunningham replied bluntly, “Tell them to pay us.”

The remark highlighted ongoing WNBA collective bargaining negotiations, which are focused on improved salaries and benefits following the league’s recent media deal.

Players opted out of the prior CBA after the WNBA signed an 11-year, $200 million per year media agreement in July 2024. The new negotiations aim to increase player compensation and strengthen contract terms for the upcoming seasons.

Cunningham is one of several unrestricted free agents, including Kelsey Mitchell, Natasha Howard, Damiris Dantas, Sydney Colson, Brianna Turner, Aari McDonald, and Odyssey Sims, whose contracts expired this season, allowing them to negotiate new deals.

Of the WNBA’s 144 players, only 40 are either restricted free agents or reserved players, according to SB Nation. Restricted free agents must receive qualifying offers to negotiate elsewhere, while reserved players cannot sign with other teams unless not extended a qualifying offer.

Cunningham‘s status provides leverage in contract discussions, emphasizing the importance of fair wages and equitable conditions for professional women athletes while she evaluates her next career move in the league.
