On Thursday, September 4, Indiana Fever announced that both Caitlin Clark and Chloe Bibby will also be out for the rest of the year. This brings the team’s total to 5 players to end this season, along with Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson.

However, they were present at the team photo shoot, although one comment from Sophie stole all the attention.

“A sick joke”

Injuries have given Indiana no respite this season. Despite the bad time the five injured stars are going through and the suffering of the fans not being able to see them on the court, they decided to take it with humor.

During the photos, the players posed hugging each other, with their crutches, thumbs up and a big smile on their faces, even though their injuries .

“Show ’em some love,” Fever wrote on her official X account alongside the video of the moment. True to form, Cunningham shared Indiana’s post and jokingly wrote, “A sick joke.”

Fans also took a break and commented on Sophie’s post joking about the multiple injuries: “Our hospital unit lol” one commented. “Can we get a bubble wrap sponsor?” asked another follower. “Our injured starting 5” wrote another user.

This fun atmosphere among fans and team unity will be key to continuing to support Fever as they fight to keep their playoff spot. With a 22-20 record, Indiana currently sits seventh in the league, but their spot is not secured yet, and wins won’t hurt.

With only two games remaining, they will face the Washington Mystics at CFG Bank Arena Baltimore on Sunday 7th and the Minnesota Lynx at home on Tuesday 9th.
