When players become professionals, they never forget their roots or where they came from. That was the case for Indiana Fever forward Makayla Timpson, who recently became part of a celebration that left her truly speechless and deeply emotional.

For now, the player has remained calm as she looks ahead to the upcoming season, using this time away from the regular schedule to recharge, rest her body, and enjoy valuable moments alongside her family and close friends.

It was precisely during this early-year break that she received news that filled both her heart and soul. That moment also inspired her teammates Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull, and Aliyah Boston to celebrate her achievement in a meaningful and heartfelt way.

Makayla Timpson receives a well-deserved tribute

The Indiana Fever forward received a prestigious honor this past Monday, January 12, 2026, from her former high school, Early County. School officials decided to retire the jersey she wore during her time at the institution.

For many players, this is a dream that begins forming during their high school years, and it has now become reality for Makayla, who experienced unforgettable moments there while formally developing her talent on her path toward the WNBA.

Congratulations for Makayla Timpson

After receiving this significant honor, the first to congratulate her publicly through social media was her team, the Indiana Fever.

However, they were not the only ones to share the good news. Her teammates Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull, part of the self-named Tres Leches alongside Caitlin Clark, also joined the celebration.

Lexie reacted by posting three flame emojis, while Sophie added a festive emoji wearing a party hat and throwing streamers.

Aliyah Boston did the same, posting a worried-sad face emoji along with the message, Congratsss Babesss.

It is worth remembering that Timpson signed a three-year contract worth $217,640 following the 2025 draft. Now, she has added this special recognition from her high school to her growing list of accomplishments.

After that stage, she went on to play for the Georgia Bulldogs, where she delivered her best season as a junior, averaging 22.7 points per game and 10.8 rebounds, before transferring to Florida State in 2021.

Makayla Timpson won over her teammates with her postseason performances

The 2025 season for the Indiana Fever was filled with ups and downs. They began the year as clear favorites, but injuries took a toll on key players such as Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham.

Despite those challenges, the Fever captured the Commissioner’s Cup and returned to the postseason for the first time in nearly a decade. In the playoffs, Timpson delivered outstanding performances.

Following her strong showing, especially against Atlanta, Sophie Cunningham highlighted her efforts on social media. In that game, Makayla scored nine points and was flawless from the field, going a perfect six-for-six.
