The New England Patriotsdefeated the Houston Texans 28-16 to continue advancing on their road to the Super Bowl, securing their spot in the AFC Championship Game for the first time in seven years with a solid performance from quarterback Drake Maye.

After the game, Drake Maye shared his thoughts on a matchup marked by weather conditions and defensive intensity. “We knew it was going to be a battle. This is a great team. I’m happy for the guys, this is something we have to enjoy. It was tough, a fight against the elements. Credit to our defense, they played incredible,” he said, highlighting the team’s key role in a contest where mistakes and turnovers took center stage.

Maye also praised the performance of Kayshon Boutte, who made a spectacular touchdown reception: “He keeps making plays that make me look good. That one-handed grab was unbelievable. There’s not much more to say, it was impressive.” Speaking about the final quarter, the quarterback acknowledged how difficult it was to close out the game: “Our mindset was to score. When it becomes a two-possession game, everything changes. I’m proud of the offensive line for running the ball when everyone knew we were going to run.”

The viral moment from the Patriots vs. Texans game

After the game, an image went viral showing players from both teams coming together to pray following a hard-fought contest. The action was applauded by fans on social media, who viewed the gesture as a moment of humanity beyond the rivalry on the field.

Comments on the X platform reflected empathy, with messages such as “Love this,” “Awesome, classy,” and “So cool,” while others added that there were more important things beyond the competition in a game, writing, “Thank God they know what is important and needed. Give to Our Father.”

However, there were also negative reactions, including remarks like “God doesn’t care about football,” and even comments aimed directly at the Houston team such as, “Texans players praying for a new QB.” Some users also criticized religion itself, posting messages like, “Christianity is so cringe. Druski shed light on just one trashy aspect.”

New England will face the Denver Broncos on January 25 in the AFC Championship Game, the final step before earning a ticket to Super Bowl LX.
