Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky started their postseason early. After a successful second year in the league, the 23-year-old forward was unable to translate her achievements into wins for the team, and they finished 12th in the league with a 10-34 record.
However, the two-time All-Star shines on the big screen and did not hesitate to share her talent with one of her co-stars.
Reese shares basketball tips
The Sky star will make her film debut in “A House of Dynamite,” which opens in theaters on October 10 and will be available on Netflix on October 24.
This political thriller, in which Reese will appear, was written by former NBC News president Noah Oppenheim and directed by Kathryn Bigelow. The story revolves around discovering the origin of a nuclear missile launch targeting the US. In addition to Angel and Elba, it stars Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, among others.
After stating on her podcast “Unapologetically Angel” that although her role was small and took her a few days to shoot, Reese also admitted that she had fun and wants to delve into the world of acting “during my [basketball] career and also after my career.”
Now, in conversation with PEOPLE, Angel also revealed that while filming with Idris Elba, who plays the president of the United States in the film, the star gave him some wise advice: “He just said, ‘Stay confident. Be yourself. Have fun,’” Angel said.
However, she wanted to return the favor and revealed that while they were practicing basketball, she taught him a few tricks: “We were shooting baskets… and I was teaching him a few things too, so it was really fun.”
This advice will have come in handy for the forward, who finished her second year in the league with 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals in 30 games with the Chicago Sky.
Meanwhile, Reese will have to wait until May to play her third year in the league when the regular season begins, although it is still unclear whether she will remain with the team after stating that she could leave if it does not sign more talent in the future.
