Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders finally demonstrated their capabilities in public after skipping college football’s two most prominent showcases leading up to the draft. At Colorado Pro Day, the Buffaloes’ star duo gave media and scouts an exciting glimpse of what they can bring to professional football.

Hunter and Sanders’ decision to bypass both the NFL Scouting Combine and the Big 12 Pro Day had left many puzzled. These events are considered crucial for prospects to solidify their draft stocks, yet Deion Sanders’ protégés opted out of them.

Just hours before the Buffs’ Pro Day, rumors circulated on social media that Hunter would miss this event too. However, the versatile cornerback and receiver silenced skeptics by showing up to practice and catching passes from Shedeur-his trusted partner in crime-for one final showcase.

Hunter and Shedeur shine at Pro Day

Pro Days are designed for players to perform at their peak under ideal conditions, with no defenses obstructing their game. Hunter and Sanders capitalized on this opportunity, displaying their skills, though some details left scouts raising eyebrows.

Hunter excelled in route-running and catching passes from Shedeur. However, he skipped the 40-yard dash, a key metric used by coaches and scouts to evaluate speed and explosiveness.

Sanders, on the other hand, impressed with his precise passes across all distances, aiming to counter criticisms about his arm strength not meeting professional standards. The exhibition unfolded as anticipated, leaving scouts and recruiters to weigh the implications.

Shilo Sanders and teammates join the spotlight

Shedeur’s older brother, safety Shilo Sanders, along with receivers LaJohntay Webster and Jimmy Horn, participated in the practice and left favorable impressions on the recruiters. Unlike Shedeur and Hunter, all three ran the 40-yard dash, clocking unofficial times of 4.50, 4.53, and 4.40 seconds, respectively.

The Colorado Pro Day served as an opportunity for the Buffs’ young prospects to bolster their draft status. However, their fate ultimately lies in the hands of the scouts and coaches in attendance. The final judgment will be revealed when the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off on April 24.
