Damir Dzumhur, the tennis player who in 2016 defeated Rafael Nadal at the Miami Open after the Spaniard retired in the third set, could not stop the Jannik Sinner cyclone on Saturday in the Masters 1000. The Italian, champion of the last two tournaments in the category without dropping a set, extended his streak to 24 consecutive sets won in TMS after overcoming Dzumhur, 6-3, 6-3He thus equals Novak Djokovic’s historic record set in 2016, between Indian Wells and Monte Carlo. It is now 12 wins in a row for a total of 101 in the Masters 1000, the same as Roberto Bautista

The Bosnian, ranked 76th in the ATP rankings at the age of 33, had just beaten Peruvian qualifier Ignacio Buse in the first round. However, facing Sinner on a hard surface is a different matter

Dzumhur had never experienced the cruising speed of the world number two. There was no precedent between the two. The tennis player from San Candido is left alone when he starts to distribute from one side to the other although he is far from the level of Carlos Alcaraz at the time of executing the drop shots

The match went on longer than expected because Damir asked for the same ball every time he won a point on serve

Behind Medvedev

Jannik is the second player with the most matches in his favor on cement since 2020, with a total of 233. He is six behind Daniil Medvedev, who leads this ranking
