As the countdown begins for the 2025 Met Gala, Simone Biles is offering a sneak peek into what she and husband Jonathan Owens will be wearing to the prestigious fashion event.
The gold medalist and NFL safety are part of this year’s Met Gala host committee, a distinction that puts them on the front lines of one of the world’s most anticipated red carpet events.
Set for Monday, May 5, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, this year’s Met Gala will follow the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” – a celebration of Black influence in fashion, tailoring, and design.
While many celebrity attendees remain tight-lipped about their Met Gala ensembles until their red carpet moment, Biles gave PEOPLE an early hint while attending the Kentucky Derby this past weekend.
“I think they’re telling me I’m going to wear at least five to six inch heels, so that will be so interesting,” she shared.
The gymnast, known for her confidence on and off the mat, is no stranger to sky-high footwear. Still, she admitted these shoes may be “a little bit higher than most times.”
A stylish partnership on the carpet
Biles also confirmed that she and Owens, 29, will not be wearing outfits from the same designer, but fans can still expect a coordinated look.
“We’ll be cohesive with one another, so that’s really exciting to share another moment,” she said, adding sweetly that the person she’s most excited to see at the Gala is her husband.
As for her role on the host committee, Biles says the experience hasn’t been overwhelming – most of her focus has been on perfecting her ensemble.
“Honestly, it’s just been designing for the apparel, what I’m going to wear, what my outfit looks like,” she explained. “So no big, big job, which is also cool because I’ve just been so busy. So really just show up, have a good time, wear a beautiful fit, and then just walk the carpet.”
Biles joins a star-studded list of committee members including Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese, and Usher. They will support this year’s co-chairs – Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams – alongside honorary chair LeBron James and Vogue’s Anna Wintour.
The 2025 event marks Biles‘ second appearance at the Met Gala. She first attended in 2021, wearing a custom AREA x Athleta gown that reportedly weighed 88 pounds. At the time, she told Vogue, “It’s definitely heavy, but I feel beautiful, strong, and empowered.”
With her fashion-forward presence and magnetic personality, Biles is once again poised to turn heads on fashion’s biggest night – this time with Jonathan Owens by her side.
