Simone Biles and the Chicago Bears‘ Jonathan Owens have finally escaped their careers to go on their honeymoon, despite getting married all the way back in April 2023. So what is the reason why it took so long?
Biles, who stunned with three gold medals and a silver at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, posted loving photos of herself and the NFL safety online for their adoring fans including Valentine’s Day, showing them with their luggage packed.
Other snaps included their set-up for February 14th, which had petals and candles decorating a fancy room with a romantic red carpet, with a bouquet of white flowers on the bed to complete the look. “Off to our honeymoon. 2 years later,” Biles wrote on Instagram.
This is the first window they’ve had to finally complete their wedding, despite it taking place 22 months ago, due to their intense schedules in their successful sporting careers.
The 27-year-old Biles was busy in preparation for the Olympics throughout 2023, which included competing at the World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. Owens, meanwhile, competed that year with the Green Bay Packers from September-January.
Then when 2024 rolled around, Biles was firmly into her preparation for Paris where she impressed, whilst the 29-year-old football player began his own 2024/25 season with the Bears shortly after the Summer Games ended.
Biles reveals her importance to the Bears
In his debut season at Soldier Field, after being let go by the Packers, Owens managed to make 30 solo tackles, one forced fumble and one interception as well as going as far as retuning a touchdown for a pick-six.
And Biles revealed just how important she is to his overall routine and pre-game preparations, as she makes her value to the Bears and their fans firmly understood.
“Oh my gosh. It means the world to me,” Biles said to Olympics.com. “And I know it means so much to him for me to be able to go and support his games.
“For him, it means a lot, for me to go on the sideline before because he says that’s his pre-game routine. So he’s always looking for me on the sideline.
“Well, usually, you’re not allowed to be with him the night before, so we sleep separately in the hotel. And then after that, he usually comes up, gives me a kiss goodbye.
“So, it’s very … He’s so chill. He’s relaxed. And that’s also his personality. Not as stressed as me.”
