In a drama-filled end to the game, Shohei Ohtani starred in one of the most curious stories of the MLB season. The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Japanese star, who was coming off a hitless streak, faced a constant heckler from the San Diego Padres who booed him relentlessly throughout the game. But instead of ignoring him, Ohtani responded in the most spectacular way possible.

The 8-2 victory over the Padres was crucial for the Dodgers, who had lost the first two games of the series. However, what stole the headlines was not the result, but Ohtani’s unusual gesture when returning to the dugout. The three-time MVP, known for his reserved character, approached the fan who had provoked him and offered him a handshake.

Ohtani’s gesture earns Dave Roberts’ respect

Ohtani’s honest and respectful reaction not only stole the spotlight of the game and public opinion, but also that of his manager, Dave Roberts, who was asked about that moment of the game and acknowledged that the fan was quite annoying.

“It was very annoying. He was in my right ear the whole game. It was very out of character for Shohei, but the heckler was bothering him the whole game. So it was good to see Shohei initiate a handshake with him. That was great. It was fun. It was good to see Shohei show his personality.“

A game full of home runs

The game was also a feast of home runs for the Dodgers. Freddie Freeman hit two and rookie Dalton Rushing added a three-run homer that was key to taking the lead

With this victory, the Dodgers not only secured the season series against San Diego, but also proved that their offense can ignite at the most important moments, which is a good sign for their aspiration to defend their World Series title.
