The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Japanese star Shohei Ohtani and his wife Mamiko Tanaka celebrated the arrival of their first child on April 19, so the couple also celebrated Mother’s Day for the first time.
For the occasion, last season’s National League MVP of Major League Baseball posted a photo on his social media accounts.
In the post, Ohtani shows a photo in which you can see the hand of the whole family, those of Ohtani, Tanaka and their baby.
Three weeks ago, the World Series champion with the Dodgers made a post in which he welcomed his daughter to the world, while thanking the team, his teammates and the Los Angeles fans for their support and words of good wishes.
Ohtani missed two games due to the birth of his daughter, but on his return to MLB he has shown the usual level of play to contribute in the search for a second championship for the Dodgers, which would be the first in the history of the franchise.
Tanaka and Ohtani announced their marriage in February 2024, and although they have managed to keep their privacy, she has been a little more public, such as when she posed for photos with Dodgers fans.
Ohtani’s emotional Mother’s Day post
This Sunday, Ohtani posted the three hands together and wrote to his wife: “Happy Mother’s Day!”, along with a baby who has great athletic genes thanks to the fact that both parents are great athletes, Ohtani in baseball and Tanaka in basketball, where she played in Japan’s professional league.
In Saturday’s game, the Diamondbacks shut out and defeated the Dodgers 3-0 with Ohtani going 3-1, while Sunday’s game began at 13:00 Pacific time at Arizona’s home, Chase Field.
