Shohei Ohtani shares impressive photo on social media after being hit by pitch

The Los Angeles Dodgers‘ 8-6 victory over the San Diego Padres was a costly one, as superstar Shohei Ohtani was hit by a pitch from Padres pitcher Randy Vasquez.

It was the bottom of the third inning when the Padres right-hander Randy Vasquez first pushed Ohtani out of the batter’s box and then hit him in the left knee.

The result of this action was that both teams left their dugouts to engage in a discussion in which manager Dave Roberts was ejected from the game.

The hit to Shohei Ohtani was not something fortuitous, because at the beginning of that third inning, the right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr, of the Padres also received a hit, from the pitcher Lou Trivino, so the spirits were already hot.

Moments after the game, Japanese pitcher Shohei Ohtani posted on his Instagram account a story with the exact image depicting the moment he was hit in the left knee, when he was taking his turn at bat.

The rivalry between the Padres and Dodgers has increased in recent times and particularly yesterday, after the hit-by-pitches, tempers were running high

Manager Dave Roberts argued with the umpires and as a consequence, he was ejected for his complaints. Roberts stated that the hit to Shohei Ohtani was absolutely intentional and that it was not a careless act.

For his part, Randy Vasquez said he tried to make an inside pitch, although it did not go as expected because he did not execute the pitch well.

Shohei Ohtani’s Dodgers win game vs. Padres

The Los Angeles Dodgers won 8-6. Andy Pages responded with two home runs and a triple; Will Smith hit a key home run in the sixth inning. Today, the Dodgers, with 45 wins and 29 losses, will face the Padres, who have a record of 39 wins and 33 losses, in the third game of a four-game series.

The probable pitchers for today’s game on June 18 are Yoshinobu Yamamoto for the Dodgers, who has a record of six wins and five losses. For the Padres, Ryan Bergert will start, who has a record of one win and no losses.
