While everyone is focused on the World Baseball Classic and the upcoming return of MLB, Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani has had to resolve certain off-field issues so as not to be distracted in his quest for another World Series.

The Japanese superstar has definitively closed a legal chapter in Hawaii that threatened to become a media distraction just at the most demanding time of his career.

Shohei Ohtani solves a problem outside of baseball

What began as an ambitious foray into the luxury real estate market on Hawaii’s Big Island ended up in court, but will not go to trial.

Ohtani and his trusted agent, Nez Balelo, have reached a private agreement to dismiss a lawsuit linking them to a $240 million residential project.

The conflict, which arose from accusations by former partners over financial control of the development, has been dissolved through a confidential settlement. By closing the case “with prejudice,” it is ensured that the claims cannot resurface, allowing the Dodgers player to leave the legal misunderstandings behind.

Shohei Ohtani’s approach

The resolution could not have come at a better time. With the pressure of being the global face of baseball, Ohtani is currently with the Japan national team for the quarter-finals of the World Baseball Classic.

Once the international tournament is over, the Japanese phenomenon will rejoin the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are looking to defend their status as two-time World Series champions. With his mind free of legal worries, Ohtani is ready to continue making history and will no longer have any distractions.
