Shohei Ohtani hits his 30th home run of the season
He did so during a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox, with the Japanese star hitting his 30th home run, extending his streak to five consecutive seasons with at least 30 home runs.
Since 2021, Ohtani has hit 46, 34, 44, 54, and now 30 and counting, making him, in some ways, the only player who can keep pace with Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees.
The Yankees star can also boast five seasons with 30 or more home runs, though he has a 62-home run season in 2022 and another with 58 in 2024.
For Ohtani, this milestone also tied the record for the most home runs by a Dodgers player in the first half of the season, before the All-Star Game, a mark set by Cody Bellinger with exactly 30 in 2019.
Thus, the Japanese star has a chance to break this franchise record.
