Shohei Ohtani gets hungry mid interview sparking laughter with his favorite food

Shohei Ohtani, the star player for the Dodgers and one of the most admired athletes in MLB, is trending once again. But this time, it’s not because of a home run or his on field performance it’s all thanks to an interview that went viral for a much more peculiar reason, his favorite food.

During the All-Star Game, while being interviewed in a relaxed setting, he was asked about those cravings he just can’t resist. Ohtani didn’t hesitate for a second he smiled and answered with confidence: “Meat.” The reaction was immediate. The interviewer, surprised and amused, repeated the word several times with laughter, turning the moment into a viral gem.

A simple answer that stirred all kinds of reactions

Many fans related to his honest reply because really, who doesn’t love meat? Others joked about the moment online. Of course, there were also a few negative comments from people unfairly criticizing him for not speaking in English or nitpicking his choice of words. But for most, it was a candid, spontaneous, and endearing moment.

It’s not the first time Ohtani has shared his food preferences. In past interviews, he’s already confessed his love for In-N-Out burgers, a favorite among many athletes in the U.S. And while his training and diet are notoriously strict, he’s never shied away from the occasional simple indulgence.

Off the field, Ohtani is known for his calm demeanor, humility, and genuine connection with fans. That same authenticity shines through in moments like this reminding everyone that behind the megastar is someone who keeps it real and answers from the heart.

Clips like these remind us that not everything in sports is about stats and competition. Sometimes, something as simple as talking about food is enough to make millions feel closer to their idol. And that’s the magic of Ohtani being a giant on and off the field, without ever trying to be anything other than himself.
