Japanese star Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees were announced as the winners of the 2025 Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player award.
Ohtani in the National League and Judge in the American League were announced at the 2025 MLB Awards Gala in Las Vegas.
Both winners, who received the honors for the second consecutive year, were chosen in a vote by members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (Bbwaa).
Ohtani, who won unanimously, beat out Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies and Juan Soto of the New York Mets in the voting.
For Ohtani, this is the fourth award that distinguishes the best player of the season that he has won, being surpassed in the history of Major League Baseball by the seven won by Barry Bonds.
The reigning World Series champion once again showed his qualities as a hitter and pitcher, this being the first season in which he has performed both activities with the Dodgers.
Judge, who won the award for the third time in his career, beat out Cal Raleigh of the Seattle Mariners and Dominican Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians in the voting.
