Shohei Ohtani felt like the worst person after making a security guard his batting target

Shohei Ohtani isn’t just a star for the Dodgers-he’s one of baseball’s biggest names. His presence on the field draws attention every time he steps up to the plate. But even players at the top have moments they wish they could take back.

Ohtani felt the pain and he showed it

During a recent batting session, Ohtani ripped a foul ball that took an unfortunate turn, striking a security guard in the back. The guard was knocked toward the stairs, and Ohtani’s reaction said everything-he immediately looked shaken, clearly worried about what had just happened. For someone known for his calm and composed demeanor, this was a rare moment where concern took over completely.

Luckily, the guard was unharmed and quickly got back to his feet. What could’ve been a serious incident ended up being a quick scare, but Ohtani didn’t take it lightly. Fans noticed how unsettled he looked, and it reinforced what many already believe: he cares about the people around him, even in a high-pressure environment.

At the plate, things haven’t been going smoothly for Ohtani either. He’s on a rough stretch with nine strikeouts in his first five games of August after hitting just .204 in July, though he still managed to slug nine home runs that month. His power is never in question-unfortunately, that security guard got a firsthand reminder.

Double duty continues despite the slump

Ohtani remains a crucial piece for the Dodgers, pulling off the rare feat of hitting and pitching in the same game. This will be his eighth time doing both this season. In 15 innings, he’s carrying a 2.40 ERA with 17 strikeouts and a 1.27 WHIP, but the team has only gone 4-3 in those games, and Ohtani is coming off his toughest start of the year.

In the end, the foul ball was a brief, unscripted moment in a long season-but it showed something about Ohtani. For all the attention on his performance, he’s still the kind of player who stops everything when someone else might be hurt.
