When Major League Baseball announced that players would help cover media day at the World Series, no one expected the funniest moment to come from Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino. Known for his big swing and even bigger personality, Vinnie brought his charm and a little courage to the interview table.
As part of his guest correspondent duties, Pasquantino had the chance to interview some of the league’s biggest names, including Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani. But instead of the typical questions about preparation or mindset, Vinnie had something far more personal on his mind.

Fans watching the clip online were quick to join in, flooding social media with memes and comments about the hilarious exchange. It’s not every day someone asks one of baseball’s greatest talents if their fastball comes from a place of personal vengeance.
Here’s the best part: both of Ohtani’s fastest career pitches, the hardest he’s ever thrown happened to be against Vinnie Pasquantino. One during the World Baseball Classic, and the other during a regular-season matchup, two years apart. Coincidence? Maybe. But Pasquantino wasn’t about to let that detail slide without a playful interrogation.
