As the season progresses and only one other team has more wins approaching the mid-season break, the Los Angeles Dodgers, with Shohei Ohtani as their leading star, remain the team to beat. Unfortunately for the New York Yankees, they are far from being at a level to challenge them in a potential new World Series.

However, the Dodgers wouldn’t be favorites at all without the key pieces on their roster, several of whom will be showcased at the MLB All-Star Game on July 15.

The Dodgers lead the way in All-Star Game contributions

The All-Star Game reaches its 95th edition, with the Dodgers contributing the most stars. Los Angeles sends five players, followed by the Detroit Tigers, who hold the best record in baseball to date, and the Seattle Mariners, each with four players.

Shohei Ohtani heads the Dodgers’ contingent, marking the team’s sixth consecutive year with at least five players in the All-Star Game. The roster is completed by Clayton Kershaw, Will Smith, Freddie Freeman, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

After recording his 3,000th career strikeout, Kershaw was named to the National League roster as a “Legend Pick”, earning his 11th All-Star invitation. Meanwhile, Freddie Freeman leads the position players with nine All-Star selections.

The other team matching the highest number of players sent to the game is the Seattle Mariners, featuring Andrés Muñoz, Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodríguez, and Bryan Woo.

For the Detroit Tigers, the representatives are Javier Báez, Riley Greene, Gleyber Torres, and Tarik Skubal.

In a season where Juan Soto switched teams, the Dominican player was not selected for the All-Star Game despite posting strong numbers. It’s worth noting that the new New York Mets player was part of the New York Yankees roster when they lost the last World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
