Following an agreement with the Phoenix Suns, Bradley Beal has reportedly reached an agreement with his team to terminate his contract.
Having already played two seasons with the Suns since being traded on June 18, 2023, after eleven years in Washington, the 32-year-old shooting guard is reportedly considering signing with the Los Angeles Clippers for the next two years, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Despite the agreement, sources revealed that Beal will have to return $13.9 million of the remaining $110 million from his last two years to the Suns to complete the termination. In addition, it was also reported that the team will likely waive and extend the remaining salary over five years.
This agreement allows Bradley to aim for the playoffs in the Western Conference and gives the team greater access to tradable draft picks by removing them from the first and second aprons.
Beal to the Clippers
If his move to the Los Angeles team goes through, the three-time All-Star (2017-18, 2018-19, and 2020-21) would receive $11 million, including a player option.
According to sources, the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Los Angeles Lakers were interested in him, but he ultimately chose the Clippers.
Now, he would join Kawhi Leonard and James Harden to form a formidable and veteran trio to emerge from the shadow of the Lakers and maximize their chances of winning a ring with his scoring and playmaking abilities.
With an average of 17.6 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds with the Suns over the last two seasons, Beal arrives ready to continue writing his own story in the league. In addition, his 50.5% field goal percentage and 40.7% three-point percentage add even more to the Clippers’ game.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles team finished fifth in the Western Conference (50-37) and fell in the first round of the playoffs to the Denver Nuggets. Although they put up a fight and made it to Game 7, they were ultimately eliminated. Will Beal be able to change history?
