Shilo Sanders shows a quality that can help him succeed with the Buccaneers that his family hasn’t always displayed

The Sanders family has suffered several headaches due to the 2025 NFL Draft. After three days of waiting, Shedeur was finally selected 144th overall in the fifth round of the draft by Cleveland Browns. However, his brother Shilo Sanders was not as fortunate.

Luckily, for the 25-year-old, his career didn’t end there by a long shot. The Colorado Buffaloes safety signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and over the course of rookie minicamp, he showed the team why they made the right decision in selecting him.

Of course, facing the hard hit of the draft with all the pressure, expectations and public exposure must have been tough to deal with. However, in a press conference, Shilo said: “Well, my take on being disappointed in lows is, like, it’s not really a low. Because you can’t change the path, and you can’t really do anything about something that already happened,” he began and then added: “So I just know it’s going to happen, and whatever is happening currently is to learn or to grow from”.

And of course the Buccaneers rookie has work to do, earning a spot on the 53-man roster is not easy but not impossible. And he’s getting closer and closer after his first tryout.

During rookie minicamp, Shilo showed his great potential and a side he had shown very little of to his family. Team head coach Todd Bowles had nothing but praise for him:

Like the rest of the safeties, he’s very intelligent, he’s very loud. You can hear him (on the field), making calls and everything, so he has a good grasp of things Day 1.

How much Shilo will earn with the Bucs

Having his father, “Coach Prime”, as an agent didn’t turn out the way Shilo had hoped. After being passed over in the draft by no team, the 25-year-old safety signed with NFL agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Now, upon joining Tampa Bay, the team revealed that the Bucs rookie signed a three-year, $2.965 million contract.

According to Sportrac, Shilo will receive an average salary of $988,000, with a base salary of $840,000 this year. However, he will not receive a signing bonus because he is an undrafted free agent.
