Shilo Sanders reprimands a milkshake shop employee who ignored him and teaches him a lesson

Shilo Sanders is doing everything he can to prove himself in the NFL. After going undrafted, the former Colorado standout earned a shot with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent, and he knows how steep the climb is.

With training camp now in full swing and preseason games fast approaching, every rep, every moment counts-and Sanders is pushing his body to the edge.

Following one particularly demanding day at camp, Sanders was worn out and desperate for a quick recharge. He headed into a local smoothie shop, hoping for a fast pick-me-up. But what should have been a quick and simple errand turned into a frustrating ordeal.

According to Sanders, staff at the store failed to acknowledge him despite multiple attempts to place an order. Tired, thirsty, and visibly agitated, he warned the workers that he’d leave if no one stepped up to serve him. Still, he said, no one responded. One employee, Sanders noted, was in the back, eating and ignoring customers altogether.

Sanders’ frustration leads to a message on work ethic

At one point, Sanders even joked about making the smoothie himself. His irritation wasn’t just about the delay-it was about what he saw as a broader problem with work ethic. After finally placing his order, he stepped outside and used the moment to send a blunt message to the camera.

“I need something right now, bro. I’m thirsty, hungry, everything. Well, if they don’t hurry up, I’m going to leave,” he said.

But what followed was more serious.

“If you don’t feel like doing your job, bro why apply for this job?” Sanders asked. “There are so many jobs where you can just stay at home and work. But if I walk in trying to do business with you, and it’s like I’m getting on your nerves bro, like I’m just a hassle, then you need to get a new job. Just don’t sign up for it if you don’t want to do this job.”

Sanders drew a comparison to his own world-the NFL. He argued that if a player makes it to the league and then refuses to practice or perform, they wouldn’t last long. In his eyes, taking a job and coasting through it with a bad attitude is no different.

The moment quickly spread online, with reactions split. Some praised Sanders for his message about personal accountability and passion, noting that he spoke a hard truth. Others felt he could have handled the situation with more grace, especially considering the power dynamic at play-a professional athlete venting his frustration toward a low-paid worker.

Regardless of where people land on the issue, Sanders‘ point is clear: don’t commit to something you’re not willing to give your all to. Whether on the field or behind a counter, effort and attitude matter.
