Shilo Sanders went undrafted but still managed to sign a three-year deal worth $2.965 million with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Colorado Buffaloes safety has impressed during the team’s practices and is fighting for a spot on the final roster.
For now, Shilo is staying away from the negative attention his brother Shedeur received after getting multiple speeding tickets in Cleveland. But this week, he made a decision he might come to regret.
Sanders loses 63% of his bonus
The NFL is filled with millionaire contracts, but as a UDFA, Shilo received a modest $1,572 signing bonus. Showing his competitive nature, Sanders hit a mini golf course with his friend and creative director, Dom – and couldn’t play without putting $1,000 on the line.
Shilo said in a video posted on his YouTube channel: “We got something on this game – whoever wins this game gets $1,000.” But Dom didn’t hold back: “I’m about to take your money. $1,000. I’m about to take your money.”
Shilo didn’t hide his confidence and fired back, “I don’t know why he’s so confident, y’all, but he really trash. I could tell.”
Sanders didn’t have a great mini golf game and lost the bet against Dom. But he kept his promise and paid up.
“All right, y’all. For a band-for a thousand-hey, bro, we’re going to have to squabble over this,” the Buccaneers safety joked. But the loss was evident. “That was five. Clean sweep. You didn’t even win one hole. I’m not even going to post this video,” Dom commented.
Over the course of a few hours of putting, Shilo Sanders blew $1,000 of his $1,572 signing bonus-63% gone before he’d even played a snap in an NFL game.
For Shilo, $1,000 may not mean much thanks to his multimillion-dollar contract and the money he makes on social media.
