The NFL unveiled its official list of 329 prospects invited to the 2025 Scouting Combine, and one notable omission has raised eyebrows-Shilo Sanders didn’t make the cut.
Despite being one of Colorado‘s top defensive players over the past two seasons, the veteran safety was left off the invite list, casting further doubt on his draft stock. Over 19 games with the Buffaloes, Sanders racked up 122 total tackles, an interception, and a sack, proving to be a key piece of the defense. However, missing out on the combine is a significant setback for any prospect looking to boost their stock.
Sanders, 25, had the chance to showcase his skills at the East-West Shrine Bowl last month, where he recorded five tackles and a pass deflection. Afterward, he made it clear that he’s not concerned about outside narratives.
“I showed people today-don’t believe everything you read,” Sanders said. “I can play football. If you say I can’t, just watch the film.”
Meanwhile, his younger brother, Shedeur Sanders, has had no trouble capturing the spotlight. The Colorado quarterback is projected as a top pick in the upcoming draft and has been treated as a premier prospect throughout the process. But rather than attending the event at Lambeau Field, Shedeur and his family will watch the draft from Boulder.
Deion will be hosting an event on campus
Their father, Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, confirmed the decision, revealing they plan to host a private event on campus.
“We bringing the draft to us,” Deion said. “I wanna do it in the gym. I wanna pack it with the students. Have an elaborate living room-type set on the floor that me and my son and all his loved ones could be at.”
As Shedeur’s draft moment is guaranteed to be a spectacle, Shilo faces a more uncertain path. With no combine appearance to boost his profile, Colorado’s Pro Day now becomes a crucial audition for him to prove he belongs in the NFL.
