Shilo Sanders’ full day grind could intimidate Buccaneers roster competitors

Shilo Sanders doesn’t draw the same spotlight as his brother Shedeur does in Cleveland. But that lack of attention may be a major competitive advantage for the elder Sanders sibling as he works to carve out his place in the NFL this year.

Shilo has remained under the radar since joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That may be due to the team havingclear the ideas regarding his position, which means there’s less media buzz surrounding them. This has allowed him to quietly focus on developing his skills and proving he belongs on the final roster before the season kicks off.

To his credit, he’s moved intelligently, staying out of the media glare and avoiding distractions that could prevent him from concentrating on what he does best-performing on the field.

His off-season training routine

With the 2026 season just two months away, players are expected to stay in peak physical condition so they can report to camp ready to compete and show they’ve remained professional throughout the off-season.

That’s exactly the impression Shilo gave when he shared a training video on social media, showcasing his rigorous routine. The video highlighted his intense focus, drive, and motivation heading into formal preseason preparations with the Buccaneers.

Shilo is working on honing his speed to become one of the league’s most dominant cornerbacks-assuming he makes the final roster cut. And judging by the commitment shown in his workouts, he’s well on his way.

It’s worth noting that Shilo joined Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent. Despite entering the league without fanfare, he faces stiff competition at his position. Antoine Winfield Jr. arrived as a free agent, while Tykee Smith is expected to be moved into the strong safety role. Others vying for a spot include Christian Izien, Kaevon Merriweather, Markus Banks, and JJ Roberts, all fighting for limited roster slots. The road will not be easy.

That’s why it’s vital for Shilo to build strength, speed, and precision-not just with his hands, but with his vision and instincts on the field. These attributes will be key if he wants to continue making a strong impression on the coaching staff and ultimately secure a place on the team.

What’s impressed the Buccaneers’ coaches so far is his ability to adapt quickly to the team environment. He makes friends easily, which fosters better communication with the defense, and his footwork and overall performance have also drawn praise from the staff.

His unique personality earns him extra points, adding to the positive impression he made during minicamp sessions. For now, Shilo is doing everything within his control, and time will tell if it’s enough to lock down a spot on the roster.
