Shemar Stewart has undoubtedly been one of the most talked-about and controversial players of this NFL preseason. His ongoing contract disputes with the Cincinnati Bengals have made him one of the most polarizing and high-profile rookies in the league. Now, Stewart has stirred more headlines after directing strong remarks toward his former college program, Texas A&M.

Shemar Stewart is officially beginning his NFL journey, and despite some early conflicts with the franchise, the Cincinnati Bengals hold high expectations for their first-round pick. His transition, however, has stirred controversy, especially after he publicly criticized his former college team, Texas A&M, raising eyebrows among fans and analysts alike.

The controversy words from Shemar Stewart

Stewart took considerable time before finally signing his rookie four-year contract worth $18.9 million with the Bengals. Nevertheless, before the deal was finalized, there was widespread speculation about a possible return to Texas A&M for the defensive end, rather than making the leap to the NFL.

Now, he is participating in the Bengals’ Training Camp at the Kettering Health Bengals Practice Fields, where the team is gearing up for the upcoming season and preseason matchups, starting with a clash against the Philadelphia Eagles. During camp, Stewart took some time to speak with reporters, delivering a strong message about his past that quickly made waves.

“The internet makes up some crazy things sometime, I just got to sit back and laugh at it sometimes because I don’t know where they get it from.” Stewart told regarding the speculation of a possible return to the college team.

The defensive player also added that, “I mean, I can’t work out back with my old college team? Like, it’s stupid.” Generating all kind of comments in the social media about the ingratitude message towards the team the impulse him to the NFL.

Texas A&M HC makes it clear, Shemar Stewart’s return was never an option

One thing is certain: the internet rumors lacked any credible backing, as no official sources ever suggested that a deal was in motion. The only spark for speculation came from Stewart being spotted in College Station. Despite that, Texas A&M’s head coach, Mike Elko, said that the comeback of the NFL rookie to the Aggies roster was never on the table.

“Shemar Stewart is back with us, working out, getting ready to go to Cincinnati to play in the NFL. It’s amazing what can get created on social media these days,” said Elko in during the SEC Media Days.

However, the head coach of Texas A&M clarified that while Stewart remains proud of his time with the program, a return was never considered. “There’s no intention of Shemar playing for the Aggies this year,” the coach said. “But Shemar has been around. He’s very comfortable in our program and really likes what we do training-wise. He’s been training, getting ready for his season this year with the Bengals.” The coach said.
