Shedeur Sanders responds to Browns speculation: Will Cleveland cut him from roster?

Shedeur Sanders is already facing heavy scrutiny in his early NFL days. As the Cleveland Browns juggle a crowded quarterback room, speculation has emerged that the former Colorado standout could be the odd man out. But Sanders isn’t backing down-instead, he’s facing the chatter head-on.

Following buzz that he might be cut despite his fifth-round selection, Sanders took to social media to offer a bold and confident response. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he shared a clip from his college days with the caption, “My biggest hater is my own blood, so I learned to embrace it! I’m grateful & appreciate it all. I love it.”

His words suggest not only self-assurance but also a refusal to let outside noise shake his focus. Sanders appears determined to make his mark with the Browns, no matter how steep the climb may be.

Competition heats up in Cleveland’s crowded QB room

The Browns’ quarterback battle is one of the more intriguing storylines of the offseason. With five quarterbacks currently listed on the roster-including Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Sanders – the coaching staff faces tough decisions ahead of the regular season.

Watson’s recovery from injury has left the door open for others to step up in offseason workouts. While Flacco brings veteran leadership and a solid understanding of the Browns’ offensive scheme, Sanders and Gabriel are eager to prove their worth as rookies.

There’s been chatter that Sanders, who slid to the fifth round despite high-profile college performances under his father Deion Sanders at Colorado, may face the most pressure.

NFL insider Zac Jackson recently suggested that the Browns might already be leaning toward parting ways with one of the younger signal-callers. While Gabriel was taken earlier in the draft, Jackson seemed to favor Sanders, calling him “talented” and saying he was “handling things well.”

Still, with limited reps available, each mistake or highlight carries extra weight. For Sanders, that means showing maturity, work ethic, and rapid development in meetings, film sessions, and practices.

Sanders unfazed with challenges ahead

As the Browns ramp up activities heading into summer, the battle behind center will only intensify. Sanders, however, remains undeterred. Known for his composure and confidence during his time at Colorado, he continues to bet on himself despite the outside speculation.

Observers have also noted his poise and competitive fire-traits that could help him stick around in a league where job security is rarely guaranteed, especially for rookie quarterbacks.

His message was clear: he’s not worried about critics or rumors. Sanders is focusing on controlling what he can, and letting his performance speak for itself.

In the coming weeks, how he handles practice reps and preseason opportunities could determine whether he secures a spot on the Browns’ final roster-or if he’ll be looking for a fresh start elsewhere. Either way, Shedeur Sanders isn’t letting the noise get to him.
