The 2025 NFL Draft is getting closer and closer, and yet there’s still a ton of uncertainty about what will happen at the top of it. The Tennessee Titans own the No. 1 overall pick, but there have been rumors that they prefer trading down in order to stockpile more picks. In a draft with clear-cut, elite prospects at the quarterback position, the Titans would likely sit at No. 1 and draft one.
They still may, as no one is fully sure what they will end up doing. But it’s becoming clear that they’re not sold on either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. Given the Titans, and even the Cleveland Browns, aren’t sure if they’ll take a quarterback, Sanders’ dream to be the first player taken appears to be dwindling. Even more so now that steam is building for Ward to be the first quarterback picked ahead of Sanders.
Louis Riddick says he would draft Cam Ward over Shedeur Sanders
Recent reports have that being the case, and now a confidante of Deion Sanders has claimed he would take Ward over Sanders, too. ESPN’s Louis Riddick revealed as much on Wednesday’s episode of First Take.
Right now, I have Cam No. 1. If I was picking right now. And everybody knows how much I love Deion Sanders, and that is my guy. He has supported me from the time we were players until now. I would objectively take Cam Ward first.
It’s an interesting admission from Riddick due to his relationship with the Sanders family. But it’s very respectable that he isn’t willing to let that relationship change his objective viewpoint of Shedeur as a prospect.
In no way is he saying that Sanders won’t be a good quarterback in the NFL; he simply believes Ward is the correct pick if he were the GM of a QB-needy team. It’s that type of logig-based decision-making that has endeared him to several NFL franchises. While Riddick hasn’t secured a GM job yet in the league, it still seems likely to happen at some point in the future.
