Shedeur Sanders keeps the faith and puts NFL fate in God’s hands

Shedeur Sanders is keeping his faith strong as he faces an unexpected hurdle in his football journey.

After three rounds and 102 selections of the 2025 NFL Draft, the former Colorado standout is still without a team – a stunning reality for a player many projected as a first-round pick.

Rather than vent frustration, Sanders chose gratitude, turning to social media to reflect on the moment.

In a message posted on X after Friday night’s rounds concluded, Sanders wrote simply: “Thank you GOD for EVERYTHING,” a short but powerful statement that shows where his focus remains during an uncertain time.

The 22-year-old quarterback, whose jersey was officially retired by Colorado just a week ago, returned to social media early Saturday morning – just a few hours before Day 3 of the draft. Again, he made it clear that his faith hasn’t wavered.

“Another day another opportunity to get a chance to play the game I love. Thank you GOD #LEGENDARY,” Sanders shared.

Now, as teams prepare for the final four rounds, Sanders faces a much different landscape than many expected.

Once thought to be an immediate contender for a starting role in the NFL, he is now likely to be drafted as a developmental quarterback – one who may begin his career as a backup.

Heading into Saturday, five quarterbacks had already come off the board: Cam Ward to Tennessee, Jaxson Dart to the Giants, Tyler Shough to New Orleans, Jalen Milroe to Seattle, and Dillon Gabriel to Cleveland.

Sanders remains on the outside looking in, with several franchises having already filled or fortified their quarterback rooms.

Still, possibilities remain. Jacksonville, which holds two early fourth-round picks and already selected Sanders‘ Colorado teammate Travis Hunter with the No. 2 overall pick, could be a potential landing spot.

Reuniting with Hunter while backing up Trevor Lawrence would offer a compelling story. Las Vegas, Miami, and Pittsburgh are also teams to watch, each having quarterback needs that could align with Sanders‘ skill set.

If Sanders does not hear his name called early on Saturday, the drama could stretch deep into the final rounds of the draft – a situation few saw coming for a player once considered a top-40 lock.

As the hours tick down, one thing is clear: Sanders remains grounded in his faith, believing his journey is part of a bigger plan.
