Shedeur Sanders is making Deshaun Watson nervous with his precision and strong performance at Browns OTA’s, creating real tension in the QB room

Shedeur Sanders isn’t just showing up to the Cleveland Browns’ OTA sessions he’s showing out. The rookie quarterback has been making waves with his precision, rhythm, and poise under pressure, and it’s starting to make people take serious notice. Most notably? Deshaun Watson. While the veteran QB continues his recovery from injury, Sanders is putting on a show that’s hard to ignore. And as a result, the tension in the Browns’ quarterback room is heating up fast.

There’s no denying the competition. Sanders has reportedly been throwing laser accurate passes and running drills with the kind of timing that coaches dream about. As one report put it, Sanders “stole the show” yet again at a recent OTA, going 9 of 14 for over 100 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one tipped pass interception. For a rookie still getting used to NFL speed, those are standout numbers and they’re sending a clear message to the rest of the QB depth chart.

Shedeur’s precision is turning heads and tightening jobs

Observers inside the organization have begun to compare his style to none other than Tom Brady. Bold, sure. But Sanders’ efficiency and leadership in early practices are fueling that buzz. A source close to the team even stated, “Once he gets a consistent shot with the first team, he’ll close the case.” That’s a huge endorsement for a first-year player especially on a roster loaded with veteran experience.

And that brings us to the growing unease within the Browns QB room. With Deshaun Watson working to get back to form, and veterans like Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett in the mix, there’s already a crowded competition. Add in rookie Dillon Gabriel, and it’s a full on battle. But Shedeur Sanders is the one standing out not just competing, but commanding attention.

His throws have been on point, his confidence unmistakable. That’s making things very interesting for Kevin Stefanski and the coaching staff, who will soon have to decide how to divide reps in a room filled with proven veterans and one fast-rising rookie. For now, Watson remains the presumed starter but that grip may be loosening.

If Sanders continues on this trajectory, it won’t just be about a great camp. It’ll be about whether the Browns are ready to hand the reins of the franchise to a rookie who looks more prepared than anyone expected. And if that happens, we might look back at these OTA sessions as the true start of Shedeur Sanders’ NFL takeover.

The Browns QB room is no longer just a place for recovery and routine. It’s a battleground and Shedeur Sanders is right in the center of it.
