The drama continues just three days before the NFL Draft regarding the Shedeur Sanders situation. The high-profile quarterback was in a close competition with Cam Ward to be the first quarterback selected. Ward won that battle and will be the first pick in the Draft by the Tennessee Titans on April 24.
However, the next teams in line to pick – the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants – are not expected to go for a quarterback. There is talk that a window could open for Shedeur at pick number 9, where the New Orleans Saints are selecting, especially after Derek Carr’s injury. Nonetheless, it appears the franchise is not fond of the player.
The New Orleans Saints will not pick Shedeur Sanders
The lack of quarterback needs among teams this year has gradually closed doors for Shedeur Sanders. Despite being heavily linked to the Saints, that won’t be the destination for the former Colorado Buffaloes player, according to analyst Todd McShay on his YouTube channel.
“New Orleans will not pick Shedeur Sanders at number 9,” McShay stated.
Perhaps Sanders is not the ideal fit for the Saints, as he seems to be falling in the Draft. The last possible option for Sanders might be the New York Giants, who have shown interest in recent days. However, all signs point to the Big Apple team selecting Penn State defensive player Abdul Carter instead.
Another potential first-round destination for Sanders could be the Pittsburgh Steelers at pick 21. They have also kept tabs on Shedeur, especially as they continue to await a response from Aaron Rodgers, who has yet to give the green light to join Mike Tomlin’s team.
Shedeur Sanders is expected to attract major attention during the Draft – whether he ends up being picked, whether a team makes a trade for him, or if something dramatic causes him to fall into the second round.
