Shedeur Sanders’ home robbed during his NFL debut in Browns’ loss to Ravens

Sunday was a nightmare for Shedeur Sanders. Beyond the beating he endured in his NFL debut, the Cleveland Browns quarterback returned home to discover it had been robbed, Cleveland.com beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot confirmed today.

Sunday was supposed to be Sanders’ dream day. After the concussion suffered by starter Dillon Gabriel, the Browns rookie finally had the opportunity he had been waiting for for months.

However, things didn’t go as planned. Not only did the Baltimore Ravens win 23-16, but they also effectively shut him down. Sanders finished the game 4-for-16 for 47 yards, one interception, and two sacks.

And if that wasn’t enough… While Shedeur was battling the Ravens’ pass rushers, thieves broke into his suburban Cleveland home.

What happened at Shedeur Sanders’ house?

Cabot confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Can confirm that Shedeur Sanders’ house was broken into during the Browns’ loss to the Ravens on Sunday, as first reported by Pro Football Talk.”

Authorities are investigating the case, but details of the burglary are still unknown. Meanwhile, media outlets have been noting that Sanders isn’t the first to be burglarized while playing.

Late last year, the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, were also targeted by thieves.

The NFL issued a warning to players

Following last year’s wave of burglaries, the NFL issued a security alert to players. An anonymous source confirmed to NFL.com that the robberies were the work of an international gang.

“It’s legit,” the source said at the time. “It’s a transnational crime ring, and over the last three years, they’ve focused on NBA and NFL players, and it’s all over the country.”

The memo instructed players on how to minimize the risk of being targeted by criminals. Now it’s Shedeur‘s turn to put the recommendations into practice, while the police take over his case.
