Shedeur Sanders hasn’t just learned from Browns vets on the field – he’s also followed one of the team’s leaders off it, driving over 100 mph

The drama surrounding Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns has intensified over the past week after it was revealed that the rookie quarterback was cited twice for excessive speeding in Cleveland-both incidents occurring within a span of just two weeks. It’s a pattern of behavior not unfamiliar to some of the team’s star players.

According to reports from WKBN-TV in Cleveland, Sanders was first pulled over by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Brunswick Hills for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone. Then, this Tuesday, he was pulled over again-this time for reportedly driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone.

At the start of the offseason, Joe Flacco made it clear that he wasn’t on the team to mentor or “babysit” either Sanders or Dillon Gabriel. Since then, it seems the former Colorado QB has been following in the footsteps of some of the Browns’ locker room leaders-even if those steps aren’t heading in the right direction.

Sanders following Myles Garrett footsteps

Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett is one of the leaders head coach Kevin Stefanski is counting on to help lead the team to a winning season. However, his first decision of the offseason-skipping the team’s OTAs-leaves much to be desired from someone considered a team leader. It appears he may not be the best role model for the Browns’ younger players.

In September 2022, Garrett was involved in a speeding incident similar to Sanders’-but with far worse consequences, as he flipped his Porsche. At the time, WKYC reported that Garrett had received at least six speeding tickets in the Cleveland area since 2017.

In fact, Garrett was stopped for driving 120 mph in September 2021, and the very next day, he was ticketed again-this time for driving 105 mph. Both infractions occurred on Interstate 71 in suburban Cleveland, where the speed limit is 70 mph.

It seems Garrett may not be the example Sanders or Dillon Gabriel should be following. Perhaps it would be wiser to look to 17-year NFL veteran Joe Flacco instead.
