Heading into 2026, it very much seems like the Cleveland Browns have no idea who their starting quarterback is going to be. Deshaun Watson is supposedly healthy following a lengthy recovery process. Dillon Gabriel didn’t show much in his starts in 2025. Shedeur Sanders finished his rookie season as the starter, but he wasn’t exactly good.
With so many question marks at the position, odds are that Browns general manager Andrew Berry will add a quarterback through free agency or the 2026 NFL Draft. Even if the Browns add a signal-caller, they need to rework their wide receiver room more than anything.
Jerry Jeudy was miscast as a No. 1 wide receiver last season. Cedric Tillman can’t seem to stay healthy. And the rest of the wideouts on the roster are unproven commodities. That could, and should, lead to the Browns adding several wide receivers in the offseason.
Could Cleveland Browns draft two wide receivers in the first 3 rounds?
Free agency will come first, but Dalton Wasserman of Pro Football Focus decided to give Cleveland two wide receivers within the first 70 picks in his recent three-round mock draft. Wasserman has the Browns selecting Carnell Tate at 6th overall and Elijah Sarratt with the 70th pick.
- 6. Cleveland Browns: WR Carnell Tate, Ohio State
- 24. Cleveland Browns: OT Kadyn Proctor, Alabama
- 39. Cleveland Browns: OG Emmanuel Pregnon, Oregon
- 70. Cleveland Browns: WR Elijah Sarratt, Indiana
Adding two young, talented wide receivers to grow with Sanders would be a godsend for the quarterback. Even if Sanders isn’t the starter next season, the Browns would still have two potential stars at a crucial position.
Tate caught 103 passes for 1,608 yards and 13 touchdowns over his final two seasons at Ohio State. That wasn’t an easy task competing for targets with elite wideout Jeremiah Smith.
Sarratt, meanwhile, led Indiana with 15 receiving touchdowns and was second on the team with 65 receptions and 830 yards as a trusted option for Fernando Mendoza. Indiana won the National Championship in Sarratt’s second season with the team, while Tate won it the year prior.
