Shedeur Sanders’ future is so uncertain that Coach Prime and Adam Schefter are left speechless

With just over three weeks remaining until the 2025 NFL Draft, the football world is buzzing with speculation about where Shedeur Sanders will land.

The Colorado Buffaloes’ standout quarterback has put together an impressive college career, earning recognition as one of the most accurate passers in Division I history. Yet, despite his undeniable talent, his draft destination remains one of the biggest mysteries of this year’s class.

Shedeur Sanders’ destination is a mystery

While teams across the league continue to evaluate Sanders’ potential, NFL insiders remain puzzled about where he fits into the draft picture.

Some scouts have raised concerns about his arm strength, athleticism, and overall commitment to the draft process, while others believe he is being unfairly scrutinized.

Sanders himself has dismissed the skepticism, calling it “a lot of hate” during last month’s Big 12 pro day.

His father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, has gone even further, suggesting that false narratives are being spread about his son’s NFL potential.

NFL insider Adam Schefter voiced his own uncertainty about Sanders’ draft outlook, questioning which team would take him early in the first round.

“If the (Cleveland) Browns don’t take Shedeur at No. 2, and if the (New York) Giants don’t take Shedeur at No. 3, where is Shedeur Sanders going?” Schefter said on ESPN.

Right now, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, two teams once linked to Sanders, appear to be leaning in different directions.

Reports indicate that Cleveland is likely to select Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter, while the Giants have their sights set on cornerback Travis Hunter.

That leaves Sanders’ draft status in flux, with no clear team emerging as his next destination.

The Tennessee Titans, who hold the No. 1 pick, have been widely projected to take Miami quarterback Cam Ward, though some believe Sanders could still challenge for the top spot.

Meanwhile, mock drafts have presented several alternative scenarios.

CBS Sports has Sanders going to the Browns, where he could potentially step in as a Day 1 starter if Deshaun Watson’s injury concerns persist.

ESPN’s latest projections place him with the Giants, where he would sit behind veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston before eventually taking over as the starter.

Another possibility? USA Today suggests that the New Orleans Saints might trade up to select Sanders, giving him time to develop behind Derek Carr before taking over the offense in 2026.

With so many variables at play, Sanders’ NFL future remains uncertain.

Whether he hears his name called early or later than expected, his journey to the NFL is shaping up to be one of the most compelling stories of this year’s draft.
