After being projected as a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders‘ fall was heavily criticized at the time and continues to be a topic of discussion.
The former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback was selected in the fifth round with the 144th pick by the Cleveland Browns, but he was expected to be selected in the top five. Of course, when that didn’t happen and he even had to wait until the third day, it was cause for criticism and speculation about his performance and future in the NFL.
However, the quarterback has a lot of support from his fans and even former players who have said that Sanders has everything to gain with the Browns and vice versa.

Although that group of fans does not yet have a name, during his lunch break, a reporter began talking to him and surprised him with these words: “It’s about Sanders Nation. Sanders Nation is a loud fan base that you have, right?” she asked, as can be seen in the video shared on X by @JaKiTruth.
“What is ‘Sanders Nation’?” Shedeur asked, puzzled, to which the reporter replied, “I don’t know what you call your fanbase, but…”
Shedeur chimed in again: “I don’t call them that. It’s a group of individual people who have their own thoughts. I can’t control nobody.”
“I know. I know” the journalist quickly clarified and continued, “But you have quite the following. How do you like it? That rabid fanbase…“
Making his position clear and showing that his focus is solely on the game and not on what others say, Sanders thanked her for her support but replied, “I don’t even pay attention, I don’t pay attention to it for real. I’m thankful, though, but I focus on the main thing.”
His gesture of gratitude and making his stance clear on social media and what is said on it has shown that he not only controls the ball, but also his own narrative.
Now, Shedeur is in the fight for his starting spot on the team against former starter Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco (presumably the number one quarterback so far), Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. The competition is fierce, and Sanders will have to give his best and more to keep the position.
