Shedeur Sanders could give the Miami Dolphins headaches for a long time

As expected, Shedeur Sanders stole the spotlight at the 2025 NFL Draft, though no one anticipated what ended up happening. It wasn’t until the third day of the draft, in the fifth round, that the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback was selected by the Cleveland Browns.

Undoubtedly, the 2025 Draft will be one of the most memorable events in sports history. Shedeur, who was predicted to be the first overall pick at the beginning of the year, ended up being picked 144th by the Browns, a team that also selected quarterback Dillon Gabriel from the Oregon Ducks in the third round.

In the end, Shedeur Sanders will be on an NFL team, where there are currently five quarterbacks, including him: Deshaun Watson, Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur. Time will tell if they were right or if there will be teams regretting passing on Sanders.

The Dolphins could be one of the regretful teams

The Miami Dolphins selected Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers in the seventh round, who will compete to be the main backup alongside Zach Wilson, while Tua Tagovailoa will remain the starter. Despite his great talent, Tagovailoa has struggled with numerous injuries, and his durability game after game is highly questionable.

In the post-draft press conference, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier stated that they had many discussions and at one point considered drafting Shedeur Sanders: “Yes. We had a lot of conversations about him today.”

The reality is that the Dolphins could have been a good destination for Sanders, especially due to the uncertainty surrounding Tua Tagovailoa’s durability. However, the decision has been made, and Miami passed on Shedeur. Only time will tell whether one side was right or the other was wrong.

The Browns selected Sanders in the fifth round with the 144th pick, while the Dolphins had the 150th pick, but in the end, they couldn’t get Sanders to Miami.

The current quarterback for the Dolphins, Tua Tagovailoa, has played five seasons in the NFL, but only in 2023 was he able to play a full season. So, the Dolphins could be one of the regretful teams of 2025, the year Shedeur was taken in the fifth round.
