Shedeur Sanders continues to rip apart defenses at Browns practice and puts Cleveland in a tough spot

Shedeur Sanders‘ causing a major impact with the Cleveland Browns and has put the name on the NFL spotlight with his throws at training camp practices.

During the week 1 preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, the former Colorado Buffaloes superstar completed 11 of 18 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

Sanders received praise from fans, analysts, athletes and colleagues around the league, continuing to show why he’s one of the most exciting players to watch in the league. And the future is bright for the rookie quarterback as he fights for a spot on the final 53-man roster.

Shedeur lights up training camp

Shedeur Sanders, the Cleveland Browns‘ rookie sensation, is lighting up training camp and making the team’s quarterback decision for the 2025 season even tougher than what already is. Which happens to be one of the most interesting stories during the preseason.

During Monday’s practice, Sanders connected with wide receiver Gage Larvadain for a perfectly placed touchdown, adding to the momentum from his preseason debut against the Panthers, which drew praise from Los Angeles Lakers All-Star LeBron James, Academy Award and Grammy winner Jamie Foxx, and several NFL stars.

With veteran Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and rookie Dillon Gabriel also in the quarterback mix, Sanders‘ play is turning heads inside and outside the building. While sources love his decisiveness and arm talent, they note he still needs polish in pocket presence and handling pressure before claiming the starting job.

Cleveland gets ready to face the defending champions

The Cleveland Browns will head to Philadelphia on Tuesday for hold two joint practices against the defending champions Eagles. Then, they will play in their second preseason on Saturday, a game that will help the Ohio team show what they are made of.

During Monday’s practice, quarterback Kenny Pickett threw three consecutive touchdown passes to tight end David Njoku , as well as wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Kaden Davis. The former first rounder showed why he was once considered the player that could have carried the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski explained that the Browns have practiced against the Eagles in joint practices over the last few years. The last time that Cleveland traveled to Philadelphia was August 2023, and the last time the Eagles visited Cleveland was three years ago in 2022.
