Shedeur Sanders catches heat from Browns fans after bad throw as Cleveland QB battle intensifies

The Cleveland Browns are on a mission to improve their team as they will try to avoid yet another terrible season.

The Ohio franchise finished the 2025 campaign 3-14, tied for the worst record in the league alongside the Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants.

Managing and principal partner Dee Haslam said last week that the organization is excited for next season, as the front office loves the young player and the new coaching staff that have shown energy around the building. Would it be enough to turn it around?

Shedeur Sanders catches heat from Browns fans

Shedeur Sanders is feeling the pressure in the Cleveland Browns‘ heated quarterback battle. During practice, the rookie player threw a ball to tight end Harold Fannin Jr. that slipped through his hands after a poor pass, and fans immediately reacted online with harsh criticism.

This comes just days after Shedeur missed practice on Saturday due to arm and shoulder soreness. Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed he’s healthy enough to resume team drills. Shedeur admitted he’s dealt with this soreness before, as he adjusts to the stop-and-go rhythm of NFL practices.

The Browns are juggling reps between four quarterbacks: Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel,Joe Flacco, and Kenny Pickett. While Shedeur’s arm is back in action, the rookie is under the microscope, and every throw counts in this battle for Cleveland‘s starting role.

A puzzling quarterback competition

Before the Cleveland Browns are in the thick of the four-quarterback competition, Dee and Jimmy Haslam said they wondered how the coaching staff would make sure each quarterback had enough plays and looks in order to choose the best one.

Yet, as they watched from OTAs and minicamp to the beginning of training camp, they have witnessed how head coach Kevin Stefanski and his staff created opportunities to get all four quarterbacks reps using “two-spotting,” making it an interesting challenge.

“I think so far, they have handled it well,” Jimmy Haslam said. “And it’s something that Kevin and Andrew (Berry) talk about weekly, ‘here is the plan for this week.’ And I think going to Carolina and scrimmaging and then playing, and then we’re going to Philly and have two days of scrimmages and playing.”
